Beaconsfield High School Celebrates Its 50th Birthday
I am writing to you from Beaconsfield High School for girls (beaconsfieldhigh.bucks.sch.uk) to let you know about our celebrations to mark our 50th birthday. Beaconsfield High School continues to be a remarkable grammar school for girls to discover and develop individual potential fifty years after its creation. A number of events are planned in the forthcoming months to celebrate our golden jubilee, including a music festival, Beckyfest on Saturday 15 July 2016 and an alumnae event on Saturday 17 September 2016.
Don’t hesitate to get in touch if you want more information - and could you possibly let me know if you plan to use this story. More details and images below.
Beaconsfield High School will be hosting a number of events to mark our 50th birthday in 2016 and 2017.
Beaconsfield High School, in Wattleton Road continues to be a remarkable grammar school for girls to discover and develop individual potential, fifty years after its creation. The school was built on the site of Butlers Court Farm alongside the Butlers Court primary school to serve the growing population in the town and had 600 pupils in its first academic year 1966-7 - that number has now grown to over 1,000. Her Royal Highness, the Duchess of Kent officially opened the school on the 3rd October 1967.
A number of events are planned in the forthcoming months to celebrate the school’s golden jubilee year, including an alumnae event on Saturday 17 September 2016 and a music festival, Beckyfest on Saturday 15 July 2016.
Since the school opened in 1966, 1000s of students have studied at Beaconsfield High School for Girls. The school has found a number of interesting old documents and photos from the archives which are being pulled together for a display - do you recognise anyone in these pictures? Please do get in touch with the school on ‘alumnae@beaconsfieldhigh.bucks.sch.uk’.
A Facebook page has been created https://www.facebook.com/BHSis50/ to share information about the event for ex-pupils and staff and join in the fun of finding old classmates and teachers and getting back in touch with old school friends.
The Chair of Governors, Sarah Kucera quoted that “the past 18 months has been a time of rapid progress and improvement for our happy and high-achieving school. Since becoming an Academy, we have successfully bid for government funding and through continued generous support from our families and local businesses, we are able to make improvements to the learning environment. The current investment plans to create state of the art science labs to inspire teaching and learning is very exciting and part of our aspirational plans to make our school the best it can be to benefit students, staff and school community”
The art department have designed a 50th logo which is being used to promote the various events that are being planned to celebrate our 50th anniversary (attached).
We have a number of images and press clippings that could be used if you wish to make a feature of the story.
This is what they had to say about RelevantNow:
As a school, we do not have the resource to manage press releases and maintain a database of contacts. RelevantNow has been the ideal tool to spread the great news we have from Beaconsfield High, in an easy to follow, professional format. The press coverage following our 50th birthday announcement has already led to over 400 former alumni getting in touch. Thank you so much!
- Janet Fricker, Governor, Beaconsfield High School
