Fire juggling, unicycling and magic tricks are just some of the ways that one local entertainer has been raising money for charity during the lockdown.
More used to performing at live events such as weddings, dinners, trade shows and kids’ parties, award-winning Yorkshire Magician Matthew Cope has taken his unique brand of entertainment online. Over the course of a week, Matt has performed a range of daring challenges live on his Zoom Live Magic Facebook Page to raise more than £350 for Prostate Cancer UK.
“COVID-19 brought the entertainment industry to a standstill, so I decided to use the time to entertain people and raise some money for charity at the same time,” explained Matt. “I was only expecting a few quid, so I'm really pleased with how generous everyone has been supporting the vital work of Prostate Cancer UK.”
When venues and schools closed their doors, Matt started a daily live show comprising magic, juggling and entertainment to keep restless kids and adults occupied and entertained during the lockdown. This proved such a success it has allowed the magician to pivot his business to adjust to lockdown. He is now performing online magic shows and parties, personal magic lessons and corporate team building events, live over video conferencing software, Zoom.
“I’ve been teaching magic lessons to kids and adults all over the world with my new venture, Zoom Live Magic,” commented Matt. “The lockdown has actually opened up a whole new customer base for me, which is really exciting.”
