Dorset based charity Room to Reward have launched a film appeal entitled ‘100 Mandys’, to raise awareness and Crowd Fund for a new online volunteer nomination system, that will allow them to reach a further 100 hidden heroes, who need a break, and thank them for the amazing contributions they make to their local communities.
Room to Reward is a small charity making a big difference to the charity sector. The first charity initiative of its kind. Hotels donate their unsold rooms, via the scheme, providing nominated hidden heroes with a complimentary two-night break, whilst giving charities the means to thank their invaluable volunteers.
The emotional film features Mandy Preece, a specialist end of life volunteer at Macmillan Caring Locally, Christchurch. Mandy was awarded a short hotel break for her work supporting those who are dying, helping them to find peace at the end of their lives.
The scheme was founded by Nicolas Roach, Chairman of the Harbour Hotel Group in 2015 and the charity has now donated more than £50,000 worth of stays. Every penny raised by Room to Reward goes towards reaching a Hidden Hero like Mandy, who is making a difference to a local community.
Charity Director Adam Terpening said:
“By donating, you are helping us recognise the amazing individuals in our society who make our world that bit nicer, our communities that bit stronger and touch our lives without asking for a thing in return. We hope that by showcasing Mandy as an example of the exceptional individuals we reach, we will be able to raise the needed funds for our new booking system.”
