Tennis clubs across Leeds are serving up an exciting pilot programme allowing more people to get on court this summer. The Summer Club Saver scheme has recently launched in Leeds & Sheffield and is giving families the opportunity to become short term club members over the summer season. If they enjoy the experience they will also have the opportunity to become year round club members.
Six clubs from the Leeds area are taking part in the initiative including Almscliffe, Wetherby, Armley, Adel, Rawdon & Chapel Allerton. Each club will offer a 6 week membership for all members of a family for a discounted price - between £25 and £69 - and provide a programme of activities for them to enjoy.
The membership offers families across Leeds the opportunity to play together all summer, whatever their ability. The 6 week membership allows everyone in the household to play together for one fixed price. With Wimbledon on the horizon, tennis is a great activity for all the family this summer. Families who join Rawdon or Chapel Allerton will be able to have a shot on their grass courts and if the British weather turns Armley and Chapel Allerton also offer indoor facilities as part of their membership.
Of the offer, Gavin Sutcliffe, LTA Regional Tennis Participation Manager for Leeds said: ‘Everybody loves a game of tennis in the summer and the Summer Club Saver offer makes tennis more accessible and affordable than ever before’
Each club will be organising a range of promotional activities including open days and school taster sessions to spread the word. There will also be a digital marketing campaign and there is a dedicated website for people that are interested in taking up the 6 week membership. All the clubs will be using the LTA Clubspark software to allow people to book on to activities and sign up as club members online.
The Summer Club Saver is aiming to attract 500 new members to the clubs in Leeds and Sheffield taking part, with at least 100 retained as long term members. This is believed to be the first type of project where tennis clubs are working collaboratively on a joint marketing campaign and, if it is successful, may be rolled out nationally next year.
