Young patients with congenital heart disease were amongst those who joined the Children’s Heart Surgery Fund (CHSF) for their annual Superhero Walk at Temple Newsam Park, Leeds on Sunday, September 10th.
The 1-mile sponsored walk also included families and friends of patients and charity supporters, all coming together to raise money for the congenital heart unit at the Leeds General Infirmary.
The final total raised will be announced via social media, but is expected to beat last year's amount and will run into thousands of pounds of vital funds.
CHSF's Marketing Manager Andy McNally said:
"Walking in the midst of young patients and their families dressed as superheroes brough a lump to my throat."
"Our annual Superhero Walk is a great fundraiser and a brilliant communal experience."
"It highlights how superheroes are often disguised as normal people fighting big battles every day."
Extra entertainment was provided by Barmby Bouncers, who provided bouncy castles for free, as did face painters Pretty Little Faces.
Food and drinks are kindly supplied by Bradford's Horsebox Pizza Company.
CHSF are committed to supporting babies, children and adults with congential heart disease throughout Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire.
They provide the Leeds Congenital Heart Unit with valuable equipment, resources and research, as well as providing a support service for affected children and their families.
