Snooker Legend Joins In Dr Hadwen Trust Vegan Charity Shop Birthday Celebrations

Former world champion and snooker legend, Peter Ebdon, is leading the birthday celebrations as the Dr Hadwen Trust (DHT) celebrate the first anniversary of the opening of their charity shop at 16 Churchyard in Hitchin which, in a first for a national charity, is a vegan charity shop.

The Dr Hadwen Trust is the UK’s leading non-animal medical research charity.

The charity is holding a birthday party at the shop next Saturday, 13 August, and there is an open invitation to come along, sample a special vegan birthday cake, enter a raffle, and grab some very special birthday bargains.

Said shop manager, Naomi Green: “It’s hard to believe that we have been open a year. The time has just flown by. It has been fantastic – the support that we have had for the shop has been unbelievable – from both vegans and non-vegans alike.”

“Before we opened we were a little nervous that, by making the shop vegan, and excluding goods made from wool, leather and silk, for example, we might struggle for stock. We need not have worried – we have been absolutely inundated with stock – and the stock has not only come from local people but from as far away as Scotland.”

“We have also received a huge amount of support from vegan businesses who have donated new vegan goods for us to sell. So, we not only have pre-loved goods to offer but fabulous, new vegan products as well. This week, as part of our Big Birthday Bonanza, we have some incredible offers so it is well worth folk coming along to bag a bargain.”

“We are particularly grateful to all the local businesses who have donated prizes for our raffle which will be drawn on Saturday. Saturday should be a great day so we invite people to come along and join in the fun!”
