Primrose Collective (www.primrosecollective.com) In August of 2018 we launched a new venture in Estate Agency focusing on the community within Primrose Hill. We put community before commission and as a result we give 5% of every fee we receive directly to St Mary’s Youth Programme. .
We are in the process of setting up a circle of local businesses to join our pledge to give a portion of profits to the youth programme. They do fantastic work protecting and inspiring underprivileged local kids and it has such a positive impact on the community. As local residents and businesses, I believe we have a responsibility to get involved with the issues on our doorstep. Community programmes need our support and I want to be a part of responding to that need.
www.stmaryscct.com is the Charity we support. They provide a rare, individual-focused approach to youth work, with 1:1 support for young people at risk of social exclusion and need support. They are on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, to reduce gang violence, support young people facing mental heath issues and individual hostility by foster self worth and communication.
Jason Allen who runs the St Marys Youth Programme: "Our aim is to build positive relationships with young people at risk of social exclusion to divert anti-social behaviour, explore values and decision-making, improve self-esteem, offer support and constancy, promote interdependence, strengthen community and citizenship and to challenge injustice"
This Youth Programme is now recognised by the Met Police as one of the leading examples in London of how to effectively integrate with a community to offer support to it's youth. Mr Allen is a remarkable character and the work they are doing here needs to be learned from.
The industry I work in is changing and I wanted to be able to adapt with it. I wanted to tailor it to the area we work in to provide a bespoke service, and prove that you can raise industry standards without overcharging. Lastly I love living in Primrose Hill - it's my home and I’m passionate about it, so why not build a business around it and give back to the community.
