People across the UK are being urged to hold a teddy bear’s tea party this Spring to raise money for a national baby loss charity.
Aching Arms, which aims to bring comfort to families following the loss of a baby, has launched its first annual fundraiser the Teddy Bear’s Tea Party and wants you to get involved.
The charity is hoping people will hold their tea parties sometime between March and May this year and the events can be as large or small as people would like to organise.
Aching Arms was set up in 2010 and became a registered charity in 2013. It runs a teddy bear donation programme at 36 hospitals across the UK and by posting them to bereaved parents who contact the charity directly. The bears are all donated in memory of a baby and are given as comforters to those whose baby has died. Each bear comes with a label that gives the name of the baby it is dedicated in memory of as well as directing parents to the charity’s website www.achingarms.co.uk where grieving parents can find links to access further support.
Leanne Turner, charity co-ordinator, said: “This is the first year of what we hope will be an annual fundraising event for Aching Arms.
“We are asking people to hold a Teddy Bear’s Tea Party at their home, their workplace or in their community. All the money raised from the tea parties will go towards ensuring that we can continue to bring comfort to bereaved parents.”
