Bristol Science Film Festival is taking place online this year!

Bristol Science Film Festival (https://brisscifilm.wordpress.com/)

Bristol Science Film Festival celebrates science through the medium of film. The Bristol-based, volunteer-run Festival will take place Saturday 6th – Sunday 7th June. This year there’s a twist: the whole Festival will take place online! .

For the past several months we invited submissions from amateur and professional filmmakers alike to our short science film competition. The submissions could either be science fact or science fiction, but had to be less than ten minutes long. We received almost 500 films from around the world and whittled them down to just 32!

The shortlisted films have been sent out to our judges, who include Malcolm Love, science communicator; Andrew Glester, host of The Cosmic Shed podcast; and Gabriela Staniszewska, Bristol-based multi-award-winning filmmaker. We are now counting down the days till we find out who has won!

On Saturday 6th June dive into our short film selection as we screen our science fact and fiction films on the theme of earth and environment. In this evening’s lineup, join us as we swim with whale sharks, catch butterflies and populate new planets.

Day two of the Film Festival, on Sunday 7th June, will see us jump into the lab and rocket into space as we see how technology is changing us now and in the future. We’ll also announce the winners and runners up in the science fact and fiction categories at the end of the night!!

It'll be two fun evenings of celebration for all the hard work the filmmakers put in to produce thought-provoking, entertaining and original media. Both screenings will start at 19.30.
