On 8 June 2019, Overcoming Multiple Sclerosis (OMS) is hosting a one day conference, ‘Recovering from MS - Wishful thinking or realistic optimism?’ on Saturday 8th June 2019 at the Edinburgh Assembly Rooms.
The keynote speaker and lead facilitator for the day is Professor George Jelinek, author of Overcoming Multiple Sclerosis: the evidence-based 7 step recovery programme. (The book is available free of charge to anyone diagnosed with MS.) The event includes an impressive line-up of international senior clinicians including doctors and psychologists, all of whom have a personal connection to MS. The day also offers excellent networking opportunities for healthcare professionals.
This Edinburgh event will combine research, evidence and practical information, to increase awareness about living well with MS, in breakout sessions such as:
- Preventing MS in family members - reducing risks and taking precautions
- Is recovery from MS really possible?
- Newly Diagnosed? A guide to diet and nutrition
- Mindfulness based meditation: theory and practice. Promoting resilience through improved mental health
- Current medication options outlined
Gary McMahon, CEO of OMS, said, “We are the UK’s leading MS lifestyle charity and our aim is to share realistic hope of living well with MS. We provide useful tools to help people newly diagnosed including practical information and an active, supportive community. We sincerely hope knowledge gained from our event will help empower people to make positive changes regarding their health and lifestyle. Our founder George Jelinek is an inspirational speaker, who himself has successfully been overcoming MS for twenty years.”
