Martin Terrill, head coach at Romsey club Absolute Tennis, is travelling to Uganda this half term to work with sports and education charity Tennis For All Uganda.

Martin will be spending his time at four schools around the capital Kampala including Uganda School for the Deaf. He will be running tennis sessions during school time and also help out in the classrooms and kitchens. Clients of Absolute Tennis have kindly sponsored Martin to make the trip out to Uganda where he will donate items including tennis rackets, t-shirts, trainers and educational materials to the schools.

Tennis For All Uganda is a sports and educational development charity that aims to provide children from disadvantaged homes a safe and positive environment in which they are able to reach their full potential. The charity provides free tennis lessons with experienced coaches and educational support, aiming to encourage healthy lifestyles and to build confidence.

Martin Terrill said: "I began to follow the charity through their posts on social media and saw the amazing work that they are doing to support these kids. Sport has a tremendous ability to empower people and it's great to see that tennis is playing that role for children in Uganda. I'm very lucky to spend my working days doing what I love and now feel that it's time to give something back and, if possible, to make a difference to people who have far less than many of us in the UK."

Martin aims to support the Kampala community for years to come with a vision to bring others from his tennis club to the country to help support the projects run by Tennis For All Uganda.
